Due to an upcoming retirement he Presbyterian Church of Victoria (PCV) is seeking a conscientious Payroll Officer to oversee payroll processing and related payroll finance activities in a shared-services setting supporting congregations across Victoria.

Working arrangement

  • 3 days per week (part-time)
  • Tuesday in-office required (156 Collins St, Melbourne CBD)
  • WFH available on other days subject to pay-cycle requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Process fortnightly payroll and monthly stipends, including pay-cycle checks and reporting
  • Manage payroll-related payments and allocations (including non-cash benefits, direct debits and recurring payments)
  • Administer superannuation processing and payments
  • Prepare payroll journals and upload/maintain finance entries (including reconciliations and documentation)
  • Respond to payroll enquiries and provide payroll/leave summaries as required
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and support compliance requirements (e.g., STP and related payroll obligations)
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of payroll processes and documentation

About you

  • Demonstrated end-to-end payroll experience with high accuracy and confidentiality
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll and superannuation compliance, award application, and reporting deadlines
  • Comfortable working across multiple stakeholders (including non-finance stakeholders)
  • Solid Excel skills and confidence working with payroll and finance systems
    (Experience with Attache Payroll and/or Sage Intacct highly regarded.)

Highly regarded

  • Prior understanding of the PCV or other church or decentralised NFP environment, structures and stakeholders
  • Experience supporting payroll or accounting system transitions / upgrades (e.g., UAT, parallel runs, process mapping, data cleansing, training support)
