Job Description

The Payroll Officer is a supportive role that works closely with the Payroll Coordinator, HR/IR Manager and CFO. The position reports to the HR/IR Manager. This position provides support to 11 entities, working across 5 modern awards and the Fair Work Act 2009.

Salary: $85K - $95K, dependent on experience
Location: CBD, East Perth area

Role Responsibilities

Payroll/Finance

  • Managing end-to-end payroll, including casual payments, leave processing, Government Paid Parental Leave, terminations, and general journal entries.
  • Managing salary adjustments associated with contract variations and annual leave entitlements.
  • Managing and preparing payment of Superannuation, both salary sacrifice and superannuation guarantee contributions (SGC)
  • Review, reconciliation and processing of employee level and pay increases
  • Perform pre and post payroll fortnightly, monthly and annual reconciliations
  • Updating and maintaining Salary Sacrifice, Input Tax Credits (ITC) and Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) payments and reconciliations
  • Liaising with external salary packaging providers and providing information as required
  • Managing and preparing PAYG Withholding payments
  • Assist HR/IR Manager with employee payroll records and contract information
  • Perform onboarding of employees to the TASS system
  • Review LSL entitlements and reconcile where required
  • Assist in reconciling salary-related grants
  • Liaise with HR/IR Manager regarding recording of wages and return-to-work of an employee in cases of Workers’ Compensation
  • Flexibility in taking on varied tasks as required
  • Actively pursue best practice in all areas of responsibility

Employee Relations

  • Provision of service to employees by responding to email and phone queries
  • Support HR/IR Manager and entities with best practice for employee payroll queries
  • Support HR/IR Manager in workings and understanding of termination and redundancy payments, holiday leave adjustments, and general information on related entitlements

Policy and Procedures

  • Review and update organisational policies as required
  • Work with the Payroll Coordinator, HR/IR Manager and CFO on new policy development

Role Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent/relevant experience in Payroll
  • Excellent attention to detail in administration
  • Eagerness to develop and execute effective Payroll processes
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, privacy, tact, and discretion
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel)
  • Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (will need to be within 3-months)
