New Vine Church

New Vine is a Baptist church in Maryland, on the western edge of Newcastle, NSW. Around 220 of us gather on a Sunday morning: babies, teenagers, young adults, families and retirees, all in the same room, under the banner of “Reach, Grow, Love”.

New Vine was itself planted in 1995, and our founding pastors, Paul Whiting and Andrew Cole, led us together for 25 years. Planting churches has been in our DNA ever since. Over the years we’ve seen new congregations grow and flourish, and we sense God continuing to call us to plant churches throughout Newcastle and the Hunter region, so that more people in more communities can discover His love.

We love our neighbourhood. You’ll find New Viners in local schools through Scripture and chaplaincy, in aged care homes and at low-cost pantries, and every year we host Community Christmas Carols. We share God’s heart for the lost, the least, the last and the left behind, here in Newcastle and around the world.

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Pastor who loves Jesus, loves people and loves God’s Word. Someone with a pastor’s heart, who leads shoulder to shoulder and is excited about seeing others grow in their faith and calling. New Vine is a relational, grounded, multigenerational church. Over the past three years, the number of households connected with us each week has doubled; our kids, youth and young adults ministries are full of life. We’re grateful for the foundations God has laid, and we sense He has much more ahead. The next season is about going deeper: raising leaders, helping people mature in faith, growing in prayer and openness to the Holy Spirit, and recentring our heart to plant churches.
