Vision and spiritual leadership. Working with the Lead Team and the church to discern
where God is leading us over the next three to five years, then helping everyone own it.
That includes nurturing a deeper life of prayer and openness to the Holy Spirit.
Preaching and worship. Preaching regularly as part of our preaching team, and shaping
Sundays that are real, warm and centred on Jesus, with kids genuinely part of the
gathering.
Leading and mentoring our staff. Leading a staff team, many of them young and early in
ministry. We’d expect regular one-on-ones with each staff member, plus intentional
mentoring and development.
Pastoral care. Being known by our people and present in their lives, particularly at
significant moments, and building a culture where care is shared across the church, not
held by staff alone.
Raising leaders. Identifying, investing in and releasing leaders right across the church, not
only in official roles.
Mission and planting. Keeping us outward-facing in our neighbourhood, connected with
Hunter Baptist Churches and the New Vine Network, and actively exploring our next
church plant.
New Vine is a Baptist church in Maryland, on the western edge of Newcastle, NSW. Around 220
gather on a Sunday morning: babies, teenagers, young adults, families and retirees, all in the same room, under the banner of “Reach, Grow, Love”.
Loving our neighbourhood is a big part of who we are. You’ll find New Vine people in local
schools through Scripture and chaplaincy, in aged care homes, at low-cost pantries, and every year we host Community Christmas Carols.
Passionately expressing God’s concern for the lost, least, last and left behind; we are active in supporting mission partners, mobilising New Viners globally and locally in outreach and church planting.
