The Anglican Diocese of Melbourne is a large and dynamic organisation comprising of over 200 parishes located throughout metropolitan Melbourne and extending to include the Bellarine and Mornington Peninsulas.

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised person to serve as the Deputy Registrar supporting the Registrar and registry team in delivering high‑quality governance, secretariat and administrative services.

This is a key governance role, ideal for someone with high level administrative and governance experience in a regulated environment. The successful candidate will have experience in supporting governance processes and projects and the ability to thrive in a Christian and deadline-driven environment. A working knowledge of the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne and Synod processes would be highly regarded.

The Role

Reporting to the Registrar, the Deputy Registrar the role has particular responsibility for:

  • Synod planning and delivery, including logistical arrangements, communications, coordindation of reports and papers and post‑Synod follow‑up
  • Secretariat support to governance committees including drafting briefing papers
  • Collating and publishing diocesan information
  • Stakeholder support, including preparation newsletters, guides and responding to enquiries

About You

You are a capable governance professional who brings sound judgement, discretion and a strong service ethic. You will demonstrate:

  • Proven experience in governance, secretariat services and administration
  • Experience in faith, not-for-profit or government environments is welcomed
  • Ability to translate complex requirements into clear, practical communication
  • A working knowledge of diocesan legislation and governance would be highly regarded
  • Demonstrated experience supporting work plans and projects in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Strong collaborator who works closely with leaders, team members and stakeholders across the breadth of an organisation
  • Proven ability to adapt and prioritise work in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment
  • Demonstrated exceptional levels of written communication
  • High levels of attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality
  • Experience working effectively with stakeholders across a large and diverse organisation
  • Advanced ability using Microsoft Office applications
  • The ability to work additional hours including after hours periodically eg. during Synod
  • Qualifications or equivalent experience in governance, law or business
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake the role in a way that respects and supports the values, mission and ethos of the Anglican Church.
