ABOUT THE POSITION

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a high performing finance leader to join our Executive Leadership Team in the role of Finance & HR Manager on a full-time basis from 2 March 2026. The Finance & HR Manager is a senior leadership role of the School with a key role to play in shaping the operations and culture of the school, with oversight and responsibility for the following areas:

Finance

  • Ensuring the school’s finances are managed responsibly and sustainably with the use of key industry ratios and benchmarks
  • Board reporting including finance reports, preparation of annual budgets and mid-long range forecasts
  • Financial Statement preparation and audit coordination
  • Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the school
  • Review of monthly payroll and oversight of the Finance & Payroll Officer
  • With support of the school Finance Officers, ensure that the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions are operating effectively.
  • Managing educational and non-educational budgets, including facilitating budget submissions and collaborating with budget owners
  • Tax compliance including Business Activity Statements and Fringe Benefits Tax Return
  • Manage the financial and data accountability of the School in relation to the State Government and Australian Government requirements
  • Assist the Business Manager with Grant applications and accountability reporting
  • Stay current with technological advances and accounting software and other systems to be used for financial purposes
  • Provide insightful information and expectations to senior executives to aid in long-term and short-term decision making
  • Maintain Fixed Asset register.
  • With support from the Property & Facilities Manager, ensure that the physical assets of the School are maintained to meet the School's educational objectives and are replaced or upgraded as needed
  • Oversee furniture orders and deliveries, ensuring that minimum classroom requirements are met
  • Ensure that appropriate insurance and risk management processes and practices are in place to protect the School's assets

Human Resources

  • Oversee end to end recruitment and onboarding
  • Establish and maintain HR policies and procedures, ensuring that all Child Safety, Fair Work and VRQA requirements are complied with
  • Provide key support to the Executive Leadership Team in relation to staff reviews & performance management
  • Staying up-to-date and providing key support and advice to the Senior Executive Team on all industrial and employment compliance matters
  • Maintaining detailed workforce planning models for budgeting, forecasting and employment communication purposes
  • Establish and maintain Position Descriptions for staff as required
  • Contribute to the Occupational Health & Safety Committee meetings
  • With support from the Office Manager, provide leadership and support to the Front Office administration staff, including Reception, First Aid, Student Services and Senior Administrators.
  • Be involved in staff coaching and review for all front office staff.

It is essential that the successful applicant have, or be able to demonstrate, the following:

  • An analytical mind and ability to “problem solve”
  • High levels of emotional intelligence and the ability to develop strong working relationships
  • Commercial and business awareness
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
  • A keen eye for detail and ability to drill down into data
  • Ability to stick to time constraints
  • Project management skills
  • Experience with or demonstrated ability in leading a team
  • A high level of computer literacy with particular familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite and advanced Excel skills. Familiarity with the Google Suite of workplace tools is also desirable.
  • Be a Christian role model and be able to demonstrate an active faith to students and to all people associated with the School including leading staff devotions and engaging with prayer
  • Actively support and adhere to the School’s vision, mission, and ethos.

Additionally, the successful applicant will have:

  • Minimum requirement of a Bachelor of Commerce with major in Accounting or Financial Management or similar degree.
  • Practical experience in a financial management/leadership role of at least 3 years
  • A strong knowledge of accounting software and reporting systems.
  • Current membership of an Australian Professional Accounting organisation i.e. CPA, CA is desirable
  • A current employer Working with Children Check (or be willing to obtain one).
  • A strong knowledge of and commitment to Child Safety principles and be willing to commit to ongoing learning in this area
