About the Role

This part-time position is central to the smooth running of our church. You’ll oversee office administration, manage financial records, and support staff, volunteers, and visitors. From coordinating bookings and communications to ensuring compliance with financial regulations, your work will help sustain and grow our church’s impact in the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate day-to-day administrative activities relating to the office of the Dubbo Uniting Church.
  • Manage communications, calendars, supplies, and food pantry stock.
  • Promote greater use of the Dubbo Uniting Church premises in the community and manage bookings, hire agreements, and usage of facilities.
  • Maintain member and volunteer records, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Prepare and distribute church communication, weekly newsletters and external advertising of activities.
  • Manage bookkeeping, BAS/GST compliance, and financial reporting, in conjunction with the Treasurer.
  • Oversee security management of the Church Street property, in conjunction with the property committee and the security company.
  • Liaise with external agencies (e.g. aged care, hospitals, funeral directors).
  • Maintain and update church website and social media.
  • Attend meetings and prepare reports for Church Council and Finance Team.
  • Assist church committees, Church Council, and Ministry Team as required.
  • Abide by the policies, procedures & regulations of the Uniting Church in Australia Synod of NSW & ACT.
  • Support the overall key objectives of the Uniting Church in Australia.
  • Follow policy and procedures in relation to workplace health and safety, and maintaining a safe working environment for both you and others in the church environment.
  • Undertake additional duties and training as required.

About You

  • Experience in office administration and bookkeeping (MYOB or similar).
  • Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Understanding of BAS/GST and financial reporting.
  • Flexible, self-motivated, and dependable.
  • Calm under pressure, positive attitude and a sense of humour.
  • High integrity and financial trustworthiness.
  • Love and respect for people and a commitment to building inclusivity and diversity.
  • A preparedness to work within the ethos of the Uniting Church in Australia.
  • Current or preparedness to obtain Working with Children Check.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Valid Australian Class C driver’s license
  • Familiarity with the ethos of the Uniting Church
  • Awareness of the Uniting Church in Australia’s Basis of Union.
  • Demonstrated Christian faith.
