Are you looking for more than just a job?

Do you have a genuine desire to see lives restored and transformed?

Are you a faithful, church-attending Christian who is able to encourage, mentor and positively influence others through both your words and the way you live?

Would you value the opportunity to work in a Christian ministry where your faith, character and ability to build relationships can make a meaningful difference in the lives of people overcoming addiction?

Adult & Teen Challenge WA (ATCWA) is seeking committed male and female Support Workers to join our residential rehabilitation team in Gibson, Western Australia.

ATCWA is a Christian not-for-profit organisation committed to putting “Hope in Reach” of people seeking freedom from drug, alcohol and other life-controlling addictions.

Our residential program is about more than overcoming addiction. We seek to help people rebuild their lives, strengthen their character, develop healthy relationships and practical life skills, and discover lasting hope and purpose.

The Role

As a Support Worker, you will live and work alongside residents as part of a dedicated residential team, providing practical support, encouragement, accountability and Christian mentorship throughout their rehabilitation journey.

This is a highly relational role. We are looking for people who can build trust while maintaining appropriate boundaries, model healthy Christian living, and encourage residents to make positive and lasting changes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing day-to-day care, support and encouragement to residents.
  • Building positive and appropriate mentoring relationships with residents.
  • Walking alongside residents as they progress through the rehabilitation program.
  • Encouraging residents in their Christian faith and personal development.
  • Modelling Christian character, integrity, compassion and healthy relationships.
  • Helping residents develop practical life skills, personal responsibility and healthy routines.
  • Supporting residents to put new skills and life-changing strategies into practice.
  • Providing appropriate guidance around personal care, hygiene and independent living skills.
  • Facilitating recreational activities, community work and other aspects of residential life.
  • Maintaining appropriate professional boundaries, documentation and program expectations.
  • Working closely with a committed team of staff who share ATCWA's mission and values.

Who We Are Looking For

Of particular importance, applicants will need to be:

  • A committed and faithful Christian whose faith is evident in their everyday life.
  • Regularly attending and actively involved in a Christian church.
  • Comfortable working within and actively supporting the Christian mission, values and ethos of Adult & Teen Challenge WA.
  • Mature in their Christian faith and capable of mentoring and encouraging others.
  • A positive role model who demonstrates integrity, compassion, patience and appropriate boundaries.
  • Able to relate respectfully and effectively with people from challenging and diverse backgrounds.
  • Emotionally mature, resilient and able to remain calm in difficult situations.
  • A strong communicator and team member.
  • Willing and able to work a 10 days on / 4 days off roster.
  • Willing to stay in accommodation provided on site during rostered working periods.

Experience in residential care, community services, youth work, mental health, alcohol and other drug services, pastoral care or similar work would be highly regarded.

A Certificate III or IV in Community Services, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Mental Health or a related field would also be advantageous; however, we are particularly interested in applicants with the right Christian character, maturity, relational ability and heart for helping people rebuild their lives.

What We Offer

  • A meaningful role where you can contribute directly to seeing lives restored.
  • A 10 days on / 4 days off roster.
  • On-site accommodation provided while rostered on.
  • Meals provided on rostered days.
  • The opportunity to work in a distinctly Christian ministry environment.
  • A supportive team committed to helping people find freedom from addiction.
  • Salary packaging/FBT benefits may be available to eligible employees.
  • Training and development opportunities.

Could This Be Your Calling?

For the right person, this is much more than a Support Worker position. It is an opportunity to walk alongside people at a critical point in their lives, helping them develop the faith, character, skills and confidence needed to build a different future.

If you are a committed Christian with a heart for people, a willingness to serve, and the maturity to mentor and encourage others, we would love to hear from you.
