Seeking an associate minister to join the ministry of its growing congregation. The mix of responsibilities for this position is flexible and may include general pastoral ministry, youth ministry, or children’s ministry, depending on the experience, gifts and interests of the successful candidate.
For example, this position could be:
- A generalist minister, primarily focused on pastoral ministry to adults, but also overseeing a portfolio of either children’s or youth ministry
- A generations minister, with responsibility focused on the children’s and youth ministries at WAC
- A specialist children’s or youth minister who will also preach and engage in pastoral ministry to the wider church
- Another combination that fits into the Warragul Anglican mix
- We are open to discussing the best fit for each candidate.
Key details
- A full time position, however a successful candidate may negotiate a different load.
- Open to candidates lay or ordained, with a curacy as a possibility.
- Remuneration is in accordance with the determination of the Anglican Diocese of Gippsland, which can be found here.
- Ordained ministers would be subject to licensing through the Diocese of Gippsland.
Key responsibilities will be a subset of the following
- Strategically implement the church’s vision and mission.
- Lead and train the ministry teams.
- Teach and preach the Word of God.
- Guide and shepherd the congregation.
- Equip and mobilise the church for effective discipleship and mission.
- Perform general pastoral duties (e.g. leading services, pastoral care, baptisms, weddings, funerals, etc.)
- Work closely with the Rector and Parish Council to ensure healthy alignment in church leadership and ministry direction.
Essential qualities
- Be gifted in teaching and preaching God’s Word with theological clarity, gospel fluency and pastoral application that strengthens the congregation's resolve for the faith and obedience to Christ.
- Committed to the mission, vision, values, doctrine and direction of Warragul Anglican Church.
- Well-developed communication skills including the ability to engage positively with adults and young people in an age-appropriate way.
- Capability to coordinate and lead others to deliver positive outcomes.
- Effective organisation and time management skills.
- Ability to manage, develop and recruit volunteers, recognising and developing people’s skills and callings.
- Experience in working collaboratively in a team and contributing to shared objectives.
- A commitment to personal discipleship, an active prayer life, and a willingness to share your faith story with others.
Desirable qualities
- Have obtained or currently working towards tertiary theological or ministry qualifications.
- Ordained minister, or open to considering ordination.
- At least 2 years experience in a similar ministry role (paid or volunteer).
Mandatory requirements
- Working with Children Check.
- Satisfactory National Police Check.
- Successful Anglican Church Safe Ministry Check.
- Right to Work in Australia check.
