At Tunnel Ridge Ranch, our horses aren't just animals we manage. They're the reason a shy teenager finds their confidence, the reason a camper's biggest smile of the year happens in our arena, and often the reason a young person leaves camp having encountered something bigger than themselves for the first time.
We're looking for a Horse Coordinator to lead this program: someone who lives for the moment a nervous first-timer becomes a rider, who takes real pride in a healthy, well-prepared herd, and who wants their work to matter well beyond the stables.
This isn't just a horse job. It's a chance to build something, lead a team, and be part of a mission that changes lives, one camper at a time.
You'll be the driving force behind one of the most loved parts of our camp program: leading horse activities, caring for our herd's health and welfare, building and developing a passionate team of staff and volunteers, and helping shape the memories that keep campers coming back year after year.
You'll play a key part in deciding when a horse is fit for the program, shaping the rotation and workload, and building the systems that make the herd sustainable long after you've trained others to help carry it. You'll also have the opportunity to grow the program itself, developing new offerings like trail rides, private lessons and school holiday programs that create fresh income and reach new people.
And because you're part of the wider TRR team, you'll pitch in beyond the arena too, contributing to the broader camp experience that makes this whole place special.
● Purpose beyond activities. Every day, your work directly shapes the experience of young people discovering faith, courage and connection through the outdoors.
● A team and community that has your back. You'll work within a close-knit, supportive Christian camping culture where your growth, both personal and professional, genuinely matters to the people around you.
● A place to call home. Affordable onsite accommodation is available if you'd like it, right in the heart of the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
● Room to grow the program, and yourself. With Manager and Board support, you'll have the chance to build new revenue streams, develop your leadership, and leave your mark on a program that's only getting started.
We need someone with genuine equine experience across horse handling, welfare, and herd management (AHSE certification or equivalent), along with individual and group riding facilitation experience, the ability to lead and grow a team, and a real commitment to safety. More than anything, we're looking for someone whose heart beats for this kind of work: a genuine calling to serve in a Christian camping ministry, and a passion for helping young people find adventure, growth and faith through horses.
A QLD Blue Card and Federal Police Check (or willingness to obtain), and a current driver's licence, round out the essentials.
If reading this made your chest tighten a little with excitement, we'd love to hear from you.

Tunnel Ridge Ranch is a Christian outdoor adventure camp in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Queensland, running school camps, holiday camps, and youth camps for young people from all walks of life. Our work is ministry as much as it is camp operations: every activity, meal, and conversation is a chance to point kids toward Jesus in a setting built for adventure, challenge, and fun.
We're a close-knit team who love the outdoors and love seeing young people grow. Staff here get to combine practical skills with genuine gospel purpose: whether that's leading a horse session, taking kids canoeing, helping in the kitchen, or cleaning up for our next guests. If you want work that matters, this is it.
