About us

Our team at the Sydney Anglican Offices are dedicated to supporting the growth of God’s Kingdom by providing valued services to churches and organisations across the Anglican Diocese of Sydney.

This role sits within Sydney Anglican Services which exists to provide the Synod of the Diocese with the corporate capacity to manage the affairs of the Diocese. We mainly do this by providing the Synod, other Diocesan organisations and parishes with a range of professional services.

Our services include providing strategic and missionally aligned support to those responsible for both the oversight and day-to-day functions of our 260 parishes.

About the role

We are seeking an intern or university graduate to support the Head of HR across all aspects of the employee lifecycle. This role will provide hands-on experience in a broad range of HR functions, including:

  • Assist with end-to-end recruitment processes, including job postings, screening resumes, and scheduling interviews
  • Support onboarding and induction of new employees
  • Maintain employee records and HR databases, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
  • Coordinate employee engagement initiatives and events
  • Provide administrative support to the HR team as required
  • Assist in HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives

About You

The successful candidate will be a someone with a strong interest in developing their HR skills and experience. You’ll work closely with the HR team to support day-to-day operations while developing practical skills in all aspects of the employee lifecycle. This includes:

  • Recent graduate or currently completing a degree in Human Resources, Business, Law, Psychology, or a related field
  • An interest in pursuing a career in HR
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to multitask and be organised
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Empathetic and able to build effective relationships with a client service focus
  • Ability to handle sensitive or confidential matters

Consistent with the ethos and values of the Sydney Anglican Offices, applicants for the position must have a demonstrated Christian commitment and are an active member of a church. Knowledge of the Diocese is an advantage.
