Koorong is Australia’s leading provider of trusted Christian resources, committed to spreading God’s Word and building His Kingdom. We are seeking a mission‑aligned Head of People & Culture to lead our P&C function and continue shaping a Christ‑centred culture across our organisation.

About the role

Known as the Head of People & Culture, this role is ideal for a HR professional seeking purpose — someone who has operated as either an experienced HR Manager, HR Business Partner, or Head of HR — and looking for meaningful work in a Christian‑driven environment.

You will lead the P&C team and oversee the full spectrum of HR strategy and operations. You will partner closely with the CEO and Leadership Team providing operational and strategic P&C guidance aligned with organisational priorities, workforce needs, and Koorong’s mission.

Your key responsibilities

  • Lead the P&C function to deliver mission‑aligned organisational priorities.
  • Implement P&C long-term strategy including talent forecasting, succession planning, and capability development.
  • Drive change management and organisational design aligned with financial
  • goals.
  • Lead workplace investigations with procedural fairness and positive‑duty alignment.
  • Oversee WHS incident management, reporting, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive engagement and cultural initiatives across the organisation strengthening recognition, retention and performance.
  • Optimise end‑to‑end recruitment processes & development plans
  • Support leaders in policy adherence, leave management, and staff wellbeing.
  • Model Koorong’s values of Christ‑centredness, Servanthood, Community, & Integrity.

You will bring

You may currently be a Head of HR, HR Manager, or Senior HR Business Partner, most importantly you will bring:

  • 5+ years generalist HR experience plus a 2+ years of experience within a HR management or HR leadership capacity.
  • Strong understanding of HR, WHS and employment legislation
  • Strong experience leading change, organisational development, and driving cultural initiatives across an organisation.
  • High emotional intelligence, empathy, and strong communication skills
  • Ability to influence senior leaders and develop the P&C team.
  • Retail experience is helpful but not essential.
  • Alignment with Koorong’s Christian mission and values.
