About us

Our team at the Sydney Anglican Offices are dedicated to supporting the growth of God’s Kingdom by providing valued services to churches and organisations across the Anglican Diocese of Sydney.

 

This role sits within Sydney Anglican Services which exists to provide the Synod of the Diocese with the corporate capacity to manage the affairs of the Diocese. We mainly do this by providing the Synod, other Diocesan organisations and parishes with a range of professional services.

 

Our services include providing strategic and missionally aligned support to those responsible for both the oversight and day-to-day functions of our 260 parishes.

 

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Human Resources Officer to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong generalist HR background who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about supporting people and organisational culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end HR support across recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Administer payroll and maintain accurate employee records.
  • Ensure compliance with industrial relations and WHS legislative frameworks.
  • Support HRIS management and reporting.
  • Deliver HR advice and guidance to managers and staff.
  • Contribute to HR projects and initiatives that align with organisational values and mission.

About You

The successful applicant will be someone who has extensive experience in Human Resources, who is passionate about delivering high-quality HR support and who is able to develop a deep understanding of the nature of ordained and lay ministry in the Sydney Anglican parish context. You will have –

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a generalist HR role or similar.
  • Tertiary qualifications in HR or a related discipline.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
  • Experience using HRIS software.
  • Payroll administration experience.
  • Knowledge of industrial relations and WHS legislation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including group presentations.
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Empathetic, client-focused approach with the ability to build effective relationships.
