St James Preschool Incorporated

St James Preschool is located in a peaceful bushland setting in Balgowlah Heights on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. St James Preschool was established by All Saints Anglican Church Balgowlah in 1984, to support the local community in the care and education of children aged between 3 and 5 years of age. For almost 40 years the preschool has provided outstanding service and maintained a high reputation with the community and local schools, in preparing children with school readiness and life skills. Our highly qualified, experienced and committed teachers provide a quality-inclusive play-based program, across two classes following school terms.

Our goal at St James, is to develop the educational foundations of young children through building resilience, resourcefulness, reciprocity and reflectiveness within a caring, nurturing, Christian environment. The children are encouraged to learn about sustainable living within our newly renovated playground by assisting with maintaining our worm farm, vegetable and herb garden, and (stingless) beehive.

Our large, open plan indoor area has high ceilings, providing lots of natural light, is equipped with air conditioning and heating and provides ample opportunity for play, creativity, relationship building and active learning.

The position would suit both new and experienced educators who are enthusiastic about engaging students in meaningful learning experiences and have a desire to develop the foundations for the education of young children, through building resilience, resourcefulness, reciprocity and reflectiveness within a nurturing, caring environment...... Applications are invited from qualified or ‘Working Towards’ committed Early Childhood Educators with a Certificate 3 or Diploma, to cover 8.30-4.00pm on Thursdays & Fridays as a 12-month maternity leave part-time role from June 2025 - May 2026. This role supports teaching staff in the daily learning program in our community Preschool during school terms. Other casual days could be available.
