Anglicare Sydney is looking for a warm, relational and mission‑minded Community Chaplain to support the Bellambi community in partnership with St Michael’s Anglican Cathedral Wollongong & Corrimal. This is a meaningful part‑time maternity leave role where you’ll build relationships, offer care, and point people to hope.

About the role

In this role, you’ll be set aside for gospel friendship and generous kindness, walking alongside individuals facing hardship and helping them access practical, emotional and spiritual support.

You will

  • Build relationships within social housing and low‑socioeconomic communities
  • Connect with residents through BBQs, door‑knocking, community centres and schools
  • Link people with Anglicare services like Housing, Community Pantry and Community Services
  • Support individuals through listening, prayer and practical love
  • Create opportunities for discipleship and faith exploration
  • Welcome and connect people into church life
  • Help run life‑skills programs such as Empower or Sorted
  • Work collaboratively with ministry teams and community agencies

This role is 15.2 hours per week (2 days). Flexible options may be considered.

About you

You’re someone who loves people, loves Jesus, and loves local community mission.

You will bring:

  • A humble, teachable and servant‑hearted character
  • Reformed, evangelical theological alignment
  • Experience in relational ministry, pastoral care or chaplaincy
  • The ability to communicate the gospel clearly
  • Sensitivity to people experiencing mental health challenges or disadvantage
  • Strong communication, relationship‑building and administration skills
  • A collaborative spirit and ability to work well in teams

You will also need:

  • A Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Willingness to complete Anglicare’s training, supervision and reporting requirements
  • Willingness to be part of the Corrimal congregation
