Diamond Women is a pregnancy support service providing free, professional and compassionate care to women and families facing unplanned pregnancy.

For nearly 20 years, we have walked alongside thousands of women through counselling, casework, mentoring, group programs and practical support. Our approach is holistic, non-judgmental and deeply relational, helping women build stability, confidence and hope for the future.

This role would suit someone who wants to use their professional training in a meaningful, mission-driven environment where relationships and real impact matter.

The Role

This position provides frontline support to women experiencing unplanned pregnancy and related life challenges, offering casework, advocacy, referrals and practical support.

You will also help strengthen referral relationships with hospitals, GPs, community services and churches, ensuring more women can access timely care and support.

The role combines clinical care, community engagement and collaborative teamwork and is ideal for someone who thrives working both independently and relationally.

Key Responsibilities

Client Care & Casework

  • Provide compassionate intake, assessment and case management for women seeking support
  • Assist clients navigating challenges such as:
    • unplanned pregnancy
    • perinatal mental health concerns
    • domestic violence
    • housing instability
    • financial stress
  • Develop client goal plans and coordinate referrals to appropriate services
  • Provide advocacy when engaging with external agencies
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case notes in accordance with organisational and funding requirements

Practical Support & Programs

  • Assist women in accessing practical resources such as baby goods and material aid
  • Coordinate group programs, workshops and mentoring initiatives
  • Participate in follow-up support to ensure women remain connected to services

Community Engagement

  • Build referral pathways with hospitals, GPs, maternal health services and NGOs
  • Participate in local community networks and interagency meetings
  • Help raise awareness of Diamond Women’s services within the community

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with Diamond Women leadership and program teams
  • Participate in supervision, team meetings and professional development
  • Support volunteers or students where appropriate

About You

You are someone who combines professional capability with deep compassion for women facing vulnerability.

You enjoy working in a relational, mission-driven environment and are comfortable representing a values-based organisation in the community.

Essential

  • Qualification in Social Work or Community Services or related field
  • Demonstrated experience in casework, counselling or community support
  • Ability to work independently and manage a flexible caseload
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice
  • Commitment to maintaining ethical and professional boundaries

Desirable

  • Experience in perinatal mental health, pregnancy support or family services
  • Experience working in the not-for-profit sector
  • Group facilitation or program delivery experience
  • Existing connections with community or health services
  • Eligibility for AASW membership or Medicare provider number (highly regarded)
