Job Description

Riverview Church is seeking a Youth Pastor to join our team.

The Youth Pastor provides pastoral and spiritual leadership to Riverview Youth, discipling young people, leading and developing teams, and creating environments where students can encounter God, grow in faith, and be equipped to live out a life following Jesus.

This role is envisioned as a ‘future-focused’ ministry investment, focused on building a vibrant, sustainable youth ministry that reflects and contributes to Riverview Church’s vision and ethos: being known, formed, and a blessing.

The role entails:

  • Providing pastoral and spiritual leadership to youth.
  • Building and leading the youth volunteer team.
  • Knowing and understanding the teenage-parent landscape and engaging with parents appropriately and effectively.
  • Developing theologically sound and relevant content delivered in contextually engaging environments.
  • Influencing a strong church community connection and engagement (parents and volunteer youth team)
  • Embodying and participating in the broader church vision, mission, and ethos.
  • Shaping and delivering a vision for the discipling of young people in Christian faith aligned with the Riverview mission, vision & ethos.

Essentials

  • Strong alignment with Riverview’s mission, vision and ethos.
  • Demonstrated vocational call to Christian ministry.
  • Demonstrated growing Christian maturity through embedded personal spiritual practices.
  • Capacity to deploy gifts and experiences for the benefit of the Riverview community ahead of personal gain.
  • Understanding of the discipleship process, including teaching Bible content, spiritual disciplines, and service.
  • Demonstrated experience in ministry with youth in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Balanced personality: advanced relational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to present to a group well and relate effectively to individuals one-on-one.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-manage, including goal setting, strategic planning, time management, and conflict resolution.
  • Efficient computer skills (email, Microsoft Office, desktop publishing, database management)

Desirable

  • Formal ministry training at minimum diploma level and/or currently studying.
  • Experience in a large church community environment.
