Are you a strategic and creative communicator with a passion for storytelling and digital engagement? St Matthews Anglican Church, located at the heart of Manly Corso, is seeking a full-time Communications Manager to lead the first phase of implementation of our integrated communications strategy and help grow God’s church through innovative communication.

Full-time | 12-Month Maximum Term Contract (Initial Rollout Phase) | Hybrid flexibility

Lead Creative Strategy and Digital Engagement for a Vibrant Evangelical Church

This 12-month maximum term role represents the foundational rollout phase of a newly approved communications strategy, providing the opportunity to shape systems, platforms and creative direction for long-term impact.

The Role

Reporting to the Business Manager and working closely with the Executive Leadership and Ministry Teams, you will lead and implement an integrated communications strategy aligned with St Matthews vision and ministry purposes.

You will:

  • Implement and refine the approved communications strategy
  • Provide strategic leadership for both external (Northern Beaches community) and internal communications
  • Shape how St Matthews is seen and heard, both locally and online
  • Own the annual communications calendar for church-wide campaigns and events
  • Lead and grow digital platforms (website, social media, email, podcast, YouTube, app)
  • Use analytics to strengthen engagement and reach
  • Create compelling, gospel-centred content (video, design, campaigns, copy)
  • Develop digital pathways for newcomers, members and the wider community
  • Recruit, equip and mentor volunteers and contractors in communications roles
  • Introduce new tools and best-practice processes to strengthen church communications

About You

You are a committed follower of Jesus, with a heart for the local church (St Matthews membership welcomed, not essential) and bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications or 4+ years’ experience in communications, marketing or digital media
  • Demonstrated experience executing integrated communications strategies
  • High proficiency with digital tools (Church Centre, Planning Centre, Squarespace, Mailchimp, ProPresenter, social media)
  • Excellent written, visual and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management and organisational capability
  • Collaborative leadership style with innovation and initiative
  • Integrity, discretion and a pastoral heart in all interactions
