CityLife Community Care (CLCC) is looking for an experienced professional counsellor or psychologist to join our passionate and dedicated team as our Counselling and Psychology Team Leader.

For more than 25 years, CLCC has supported people in times of crisis, financial difficulty, isolation, and distress. Through our team members and staff, we offer holistic services and empowering pathways for people to move forward in their lives and thrive.

The primary role of the Counselling and Psychology Team Leader is to manage CLCC’s counselling services, including related services such as therapeutic groups and workshops. The Counselling Service (CS) is one of the core streams of the CLCC’s integrated community services. The role oversees a team of counsellors and psychologists to ensure services are delivered professionally and that best, safe practices are effectively implemented. This role also works closely with the Safe Ministries Manager to oversee safe CS practices, ensuring all ministry delivery, at-risk clients, and related areas are being managed according to relevant CityLife and CLCC’s policy and procedures.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • To develop and broaden CLCC’s counselling, psychology and related services through promotion, advertising, and networking.
  • To oversee the delivery of CLCC’s counselling and psychological services, ensuring the services, including the supporting services such as client intake and assessment, are delivered in a timely, effective, safe, and professional manner.
  • To ensure members of the Counselling Service team are active members of a counselling professional body, maintain insurance coverage, and meet the expectations of the relevant professional codes of conduct.
  • To ensure the policies and procedures relevant to CS are current and that the counseling services delivered are compliant with WHS, Risk Management and Duty-of-Care requirements.
  • Work with the Safe Ministries Manager and CLCC Director to oversee and implement CLCC’s person at-risk policy and procedures for the CLCC counselling and psychology team.

The successful applicant will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Fully qualified and practicing counsellor, therapist, or psychologist, with current professional membership; and at least five (5) years of counselling experience. Supervision qualifications are highly desirable.
  • At least three (3) years of leadership experience (required).
  • Understanding of the church or faith-based context.
  • Knowledge of child safety legislation, and training in family violence assessment and counselling are essential.
  • Experience in leading and managing a team of professionals, delivering counselling or other community service, and achieving a goal/target.
