We are seeking a School Chaplain to join our dedicated chaplaincy network within churches of Christ in NSW & ACT. This position operates under the NSW Department of Education National Student Wellbeing Program.

As a School Chaplain, you will provide compassionate pastoral care, spiritual guidance, and a calm, non‑anxious presence to students, families, and staff. This deeply relational role is ideal for someone who loves Jesus, is grounded in their faith, and is committed to serving others with humility and integrity.

About the Role

In this role, you will:

  • Provide pastoral and spiritual support to students, staff, and families.
  • Lead and participate in Christian programs including devotions, prayer groups, Bible studies, and school services.
  • Offer calm, confidential support during times of crisis, grief, or emotional distress.
  • Build strong partnerships with school leaders, the local church, and community networks.
  • Contribute positively to the culture of the school through a joyful, Christ‑centred presence.
  • Maintain documentation, reporting, and compliance with school and organisational requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing personal spiritual formation, supervision, and professional development.

What You’ll Bring

Essential:

  • A genuine love for Jesus and His Kingdom, with the ability to remain a non-anxious presence.
  • Qualifications in Ministry or Theology:
    • Bachelor of Theology (Chaplain) preferred, OR
    • Diploma of Theology/Ministry (Associate) minimum.
  • Required units for school chaplaincy:
    • CHCPAS001 – Plan for the provision of pastoral and spiritual care
    • CHCCCS016 – Respond to clients’ needs
    • CHCMHS001 – Work with people with mental health issues
  • Experience providing pastoral or chaplaincy care:
    • 3+ years for Chaplain applicants, or
    • 12+ months for Associate-level applicants.
  • Eligibility for endorsement as a Ministering Person with churches of Christ in NSW & ACT, or willingness to obtain endorsement.
  • Demonstrated spiritual maturity, integrity, and commitment to self‑care and ongoing formation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills across all levels.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school leadership and wider ministry teams.

Compliance:

  • Current National Police Check
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Current Creating Safe Spaces Certificate
