Great opportunity available to join Adsafe Ltd in its provision of investigative services to denominational entities within the Seventh-day Adventist Church across Australia & New Zealand in response to disclosures of abuse of children and vulnerable adults. This is a full-time position located at Wahroonga NSW with the flexibility to work remotely as negotiated.

Brief description of role

Adsafe is a ministry of healing and teaching of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. We partner with local churches, schools & denominational entities to protect children and vulnerable adults from sexual and physical abuse. Our vision is to see a thriving Church where abuse has no place and healing begins.

The Senior Investigator is responsible for conducting independent, procedurally fair and evidence-based investigations within Adsafe’s scope of practice. Adsafe’s scope includes disclosures of sexual and physical abuse of children and vulnerable adults, as well as allegations of reportable conduct in jurisdictions where reportable conduct schemes exist. This involves planning investigations, communicating sensitively with entity leaders and investigation participants, conducting witness interviews, gathering other evidence, drafting allegations, conducting respondent interviews and writing comprehensive investigation reports analysing the evidence and setting out clear findings of fact and breach of policy. It also involves within different jurisdictional legislative frameworks and relevant policies to ensure that reporting, investigation and risk management obligations are fulfilled.

Based at head office in Wahroonga NSW, this will be full-time role reporting to the Operations Manager, Adsafe.

Essential Criteria

  1. Relevant qualifications in law, policing, workplace investigations or equivalent.
  2. Demonstrated experience conducting workplace or statutory investigations, ideally including reportable conduct matters.
  3. Working knowledge of child protection legislation and reportable conduct schemes in Australia and/or New Zealand.
  4. Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality analytical investigation reports.
  5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  6. Ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism.
  7. Capacity to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines.
  8. Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively.
  9. Must be supportive of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, its mission, beliefs and lifestyle.
  10. Willingness to undergo a National Criminal History Check.
  11. Capacity to travel as required.

Desirable Criteria

  1. Experience investigating child protection matters in institutional settings.
  2. Knowledge of safeguarding within faith-based or not-for-profit contexts.
  3. Experience in investigative interviewing of children.
  4. Understanding of trauma and its impact on survivors.
