Mueller Community Church (MCC) in Rothwell (north Brisbane) is seeking expressions of interest for the full-time position of Assistant Pastor.

Mueller Community Church is an evangelical church with strong emphasis on worship and Bible teaching. MCC recognises the necessity for us as Christ followers being empowered by the Holy Spirit for godly living and effective service.

MCC is a member of Christian Community Churches of Australia (CCCAust) servicing the Redcliffe Peninsula. The church is part of the wider Mueller community, which includes Mueller College (Prep to Year 12), an Early Learning Centre, Outside School Hours Care, Peninsula Palms Retirement Village and residential aged care facility.

General Role Description

The Assistant Pastor will work closely with the Lead Pastor in providing leadership and pastoral care within the ministries of MCC. The Assistant Pastor will have the appropriate character, convictions, and competencies to serve effectively as part of MCC’s ministry team in this role. The Assistant Pastor will be working with the Pastoral Team and Elders to pursue MCC’s vision and mission.

Ministry Specialisation

The Assistant Pastor will, in consultation with the Lead Pastor and in view of their gifts, focus on the following ministry areas:

• Oversee and develop small groups and their leaders, train leaders and encourage members into small groups.
• Oversee outreach to our community, including organising events, leading evangelistic courses as well as providing training and building engagement.
• Develop a team of volunteer pastoral care workers.

General Duties and Responsibilities

In addition to the specific ministry duties:

• Pastoral Care within the MCC community.
• May contribute to leading church services and gatherings, preaching and teaching as required.
• Attending church services and staff meetings.
• Identify, and train leaders, support teams, and coordinate opportunities to serve.
• Performing other duties as requested by the Lead Pastor.

Person Specification / Essential Qualifications

• Mature and energetic Christian faith.
• Eager to take initiative and explore new ministry opportunities.
• Equipped with people skills, displaying emotional intelligence and self-awareness in interactions with others.
• A lifestyle in alignment with biblical standards for leaders; high level of personal integrity.
• Competent oral and written communicator.
• Ability to lead and motivate a team of volunteers and to develop leaders.
• Empathetic and compassionate; displays patience and sincerity with others.
• Pastoral ministry experience in different social and ethnic contexts.
• A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in education, Christian ministry, Biblical studies, or a related field.
• Relevant spiritual gifts, such as pastoring, leadership, and teaching.
