St Mark’s Anglican Church, Darling Point NSW www.stmarksdp.org. is a vibrant, Christ-centred community committed to being transformed by grace - to love one another deeply, serve our city faithfully, and share Christ boldly.

Each week, around 400 people call St Mark’s home. Four ministry staff lead and teach our congregation, supported by an exceptional network of volunteers and part-time workers who serve across office administration, property and IT support, communications, events, and the Friends of St Mark’s.

To strengthen and steward this growing ministry, we are seeking a gifted Christian professional who sees operational excellence as a form of kingdom service - someone who can bring people, processes, and mission together so our ministry staff can focus fully on preaching, teaching, and pastoral care.

Role Purpose

The Senior Operations Manager plays a vital role in the life of St Mark’s by overseeing the operational, administrative, and financial functions of the church. This position exists to create a strong, healthy, and professional operational foundation - enabling our ministry team to serve God’s people with clarity, focus, and joy.

We’d love to have you regularly on-site, immersed in the life of our church community. However, we’re open to discussing how best you can serve based on your circumstances and gifting.

Key Responsibilities

Ministry Partnership & Leadership

  • Support the Senior Minister in execution of strategic priorities, ministry coordination, and organisational development.

Office & Team Management

  • Lead and nurture up to four part-time parish office staff, cultivating a gospel-shaped, collaborative, and efficient work environment.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Parish Office.

Financial Stewardship

  • In partnership with the Treasurer and external bookkeepers, ensure financial processes, procurement, payroll, and accounts management are fit for purpose and adhered to.

People & HR

  • Manage key HR functions including recruitment, contracts, onboarding, and offboarding.

Risk, Governance & Compliance

  • Maintain compliance with relevant regulations, including employment legislation and Diocesan policies, ensuring safe and transparent church operations.

Property & Facilities Oversight

  • Coordinate contractors and service providers to maintain and improve church and residential properties.

Technology & Systems

  • Ensure staff have reliable IT systems and support; oversee technology vendors and upgrades in conjunction with contracted technology expert

Communications & Events

  • Support those tasked to coordinate church-wide events, internal and external communications, digital engagement, and social media presence.

We are seeking someone who brings:

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, management, administration, or a related field (desirable)
  • Minimum five years’ experience in operations, administration, or organisational leadership
  • Strong interpersonal, relational, and communication skills
  • High emotional intelligence and a servant-hearted approach
  • Sound experience in budgeting, staff management, and project delivery
  • Familiarity with church systems and software such as MailChimp, Elvanto, MS Office, Xero, payment platforms, and website administration
  • A demonstrated commitment to the mission, values, and ministry of St Mark’s Anglican Church
