Who we are: Adult & Teen Challenge WA Inc (ATCWA) is a not-for-profit organisation that exists to put Hope in Reach of those wanting to be free from addiction, transforming their lives together with their family and the community. Its key program aims to prepare Grace Academy students (clients in the program) to take an active role in shaping their lives and futures, to remain free from drug, alcohol and other addictions and to prepare them for the challenges and complexities of this day and age.
Position purpose: The Support Worker plays a key role in assisting men and women recovering from drug, alcohol, and life-controlling issues through the Adult & Teen Challenge WA program. This role involves providing day-to-day care, supervision, encouragement, and practical support to residents, ensuring a safe, structured, and nurturing environment that fosters transformation and long-term recovery.
This is a live-in position with a 10 day on / 4 day off per fortnight.
Accommodation provided @ $150 per week which includes all meals while on site. House in Esperance available for days off at $20 per night.
Willing to work and live in Gibson WA (30 minutes from Esperance)
Key Responsibilities:
Resident Support & Care
· Provide emotional, spiritual, and practical support to residents throughout their rehabilitation journey.
· Supervise daily routines, including meals, chores, program activities, and work therapy.
· Support residents in developing life skills, healthy habits, and positive coping strategies.
· Accompany residents to appointments and community activities where required.
Program Delivery
· Assist in the facilitation of group activities, classes, devotions, and recreational programs.
· Encourage participation in all program elements, including work therapy, education, and personal development.
· Provide one-on-one support, mentoring, and guidance as directed.
· Uphold program rules, boundaries, and behavioural expectations consistently and fairly.
Health, Safety & Compliance
· Monitor resident wellbeing, including physical, mental, and emotional health, and report concerns promptly.
· Ensure the safe and appropriate use of facilities, tools, and equipment.
· Respond calmly and appropriately to crises or challenging behaviour.
· Maintain accurate records, including incident reports, case notes, and shift handovers.
Teamwork & Communication
· Work collaboratively with the Managers of GA, Case Workers, and other staff to support residents.
· Attend staff meetings, training, and supervision sessions as required.
· Contribute positively to a culture of care, respect, accountability, and Christian values.

Other duties: Fulfill other duties as required by the Managers of Grac Academy.
Key Selection Criteria
Essential
· A heart for supporting individuals in recovery from addiction and life-controlling issues.
· Alignment with the vision, mission, and Christian values of Adult & Teen Challenge WA.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport.
· Resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure or in challenging situations.
· Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends on a roster system.
· Basic administrative and computer skills.
· Have a Christian Faith and a good knowledge of the Bible.
Desirable
· Previous experience in a support, mentoring, or care role (community services, mental health, youth work, chaplaincy, etc.).
· Certificate III/IV in Community Services, Mental Health, or Alcohol & Other Drugs (or willingness to work toward).
· Current First Aid Certificate.
· Current Driver’s Licence.
Other Requirements
· Current National Police Clearance.
· Working With Children Check.
· Commitment to ongoing training and professional development.
· Willing to work and live in Gibson WA
