Staff Chaplain (South Australia)

Job Description

In this meaningful role, you’ll join our Chaplaincy & Spiritual Care team, walking alongside our fantastic staff, offering compassionate spiritual and pastoral support that helps people feel more connected and supported. Working across BaptistCare programs throughout SA with people of all faiths and backgrounds, you’ll help embed spiritual wellbeing into everyday practice while modelling our Christian values with warmth, respect and authenticity. You’ll listen deeply, provide guidance during times of need, and lead Christian services and moments of reflection where appropriate.

Fixed Term 3 days per week

About you:

You’re a caring, grounded and spiritually mature person who brings genuine compassion to every interaction. You’re comfortable supporting people from all walks of life, providing a steady presence during times of crisis and hope. You live out your Christian faith with humility and respect, communicate with warmth, and build strong relationships across teams and communities. Most importantly, you’re driven by a desire to help others find meaning, hope and connection.

You will also have the following skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in chaplaincy / pastoral care OR tertiary theological qualifications with a willingness to undertake chaplaincy / pastoral care specific training within the first 12 months of employment
  • Minimum of 12 months previous experience in chaplaincy or pastoral care
  • Ability to recognise and meet the spiritual and pastoral needs of customers by designing, delivering and evaluating person-centred spiritual care initiatives, in accordance with professional codes and standards of conduct
