We are seeking two Student Learning Support Officers (one Full Time and one Part Time) to join our SPCC - Gosford team starting 21 January 2026!

WHAT IS THE FOCUS OF THE POSITION?

As a part of equipping the students with a Whole of Life education, it is vital we flexibly support all students in their learning and preparation for their journey beyond their schooling. As a Christian College, our desire is for the students to discover their passion and purpose that God has given and help ignite this in their everyday life.

The role of the SLSO will encompass diligent delivery of Literacy intervention, using MultiLit group programs to students in Junior and Middle School. It will also include a variety of other student supports including in class or 1:1 assistance, monitoring and observation of adjustments for NCCD data collection, as well as implementation of lunchtime programs. The role will serve across our Kindergarten to Year Twelve College.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Delivering targeted literacy and numeracy interventions and supporting students to access curriculum content through scaffolding, modelling and adjusted learning materials.
  • Implementing individualised adjustments and scaffolds to support students’ access to curriculum content across K–12.
  • Facilitating small-group learning activities to build academic confidence, independence and key literacy/numeracy skills.
  • Assisting with assessment screeners, small-group and individual assessment tasks, and supporting students to plan, organise and complete work.
  • Supporting students to practise assessment routines such as planning, proofreading and using approved assistive technology.
  • Providing exam support such as reading, scribing, supervision for additional time, and assisting students to use approved accommodations and assistive technology.
  • Helping students develop executive functioning skills, including organisation, task initiation and management of materials.
  • Providing social coaching to encourage positive peer interactions, conflict resolution and inclusive play.
  • Supporting structured social programs, interest-based clubs and Active Play sessions to promote connection and belonging.
  • Implementing co-regulation strategies such as sensory breaks, calm-down plans, movement breaks and use of sensory tools.
  • Assisting students with smooth transitions between activities, classrooms and playground areas to maintain regulation and engagement.
  • Monitoring student engagement and providing timely redirection, encouragement and strategies to support focus and on-task behaviour.
  • Observing and recording student progress, engagement and regulation needs to contribute to monitoring and review processes, including NCCD.

This role will be required to carry out other duties that are within the limits of your skills, competence, training and/or experience as directed by your supervisor or Principal.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A practising and committed Christian faith.
  • Certificate III or higher in Education Support is preferred but not essential.
  • Knowledge and skills pertaining to child development.
  • Clear and strong communication skills with children and adults alike.
  • Effective organisational skills with a pro-active approach.
  • Computer literacy skills.
