CityLife Whittlesea is currently seeking a person with a heart for Jesus and a passion for Kids, Youth and Young Adults to join their dynamic team as the Generations Pastor......

The Generations Pastor role is to lead, develop, and implement a vibrant discipleship environment for young people in the Children’s Ministry (12 months – Grade 6), EPIC Youth (Grades 7 to 12) and Young Adults (18 – 30 year olds). This includes overseeing the Life Group system, providing pastoral care to young people and leaders, and cultivating a leadership pipeline within the ministries. The role supports the broader EPIC Youth vision to see young people encounter Jesus, grow in their faith, and overflow with Kingdom life in their schools, homes, and communities.

This role carries an added emphasis on shaping young people through creative and event-based discipleship, providing formative opportunities for leadership, service, and spiritual growth within CityLife Whittlesea.

This role has an FTE of 0.6 (3 days) and will be based at our Whittlesea campus in Lalor, Victoria.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the Life Groups and leadership teams (coaches, leaders, assistants).
  • Provide pastoral care for leaders and volunteers, including prayer, visitation, mentoring, and care.
  • Lead all facets of Youth at Whittlesea (Epic Youth) including gatherings, life groups, events, and pastoral care.
  • Leadership and organisation of the weekly Kids’ Church programs at CityLife Church Whittlesea
  • Build and empower volunteer teams and leadership pipelines.
  • Facilitate regular Young Adult gatherings (social, discipleship focused) to help build relationship and connections within the CityLife Whittlesea Community.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Cert IV in Theology (or working towards) is preferable.
  • Previous experience working with youth in a pastoral setting.
  • Understanding of current Child Safe Standards including risk management processes to ensure a safe environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, select, develop and lead leaders.
  • Track record of successful small group, coaching and pastoral care skills i.e. giving and receiving feedback, delegation and accountability.
  • Demonstrated confidence in spiritual gifts and ministry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication – including public speaking, and report writing.
  • Team building skills.
  • Effective decision-making and problem solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to disciple youth and young adults.
