ROLE
The Youth Ministry Coordinator supports and assists the Rector by overseeing the growth and development of youth ministry (aged 13–18+ years old) and young adults (20–35 years old).
TIME REQUIRED
This paid role is for 12 hours per fortnight including 9 hours of activities, 2 hours preparation, 1 hour meeting with staff. Activities include:
DUTIES
● Develop and implement the youth program that runs concurrently with 10am Sunday service.
● Develop and run the social program on Friday evenings.
● Develop a mixed program of theological and social engagement for young adults.
● Create a ministry environment that is safe for young people and compliant with Diocesan Safe Ministry and health and safety requirements.
● Liaise with parents and caregivers about programs, interactions and procedures.
● Supervise and coordinate volunteer helpers for youth program, which includes rostering.
● Develop and lead all-age services for 10am service as requested (3 per year – Christmas, Easter, Pentecost).
● Assist with other activities for youth in the parish including an annual camp.
● Report all incidents, accidents and concerns about misconduct or abuse as required.
● Meet with staff (fortnightly) and Rector as requested.
● Prepare monthly written reports for Parish Council.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge & Skills
● Familiarity and engagement with restorative gospel perspectives.
● Sourcing, planning, preparation and delivery of programs and social activities for youth (aged 13-18+ years).
● The capacity to engage and develop the spiritual lives of young adults in ways that are respectful and sensitive to people from varied family backgrounds.
● Ability to care pastorally for young adults and their families.
● Administration & communication, particularly to manage volunteers through rosters, assisting and preparing reports, assisting with safe ministry requirements, and responding promptly to communication from parents, young people, and the wider parish leadership team.

● Developing the capacity to work professionally with young people in accordance with standards set out in the Diocesan Code of Good Practice concerning:
● Working collaboratively and cooperatively with team members, especially the Rector and children’s worker.
● Comfort serving an inclusive and diverse Christian community.
The position is subject to a probationary period of 3 months, and the successful completion of safe ministry and licensing requirements.
