Koorong is looking for enthusiastic and committed Customer Service Assistants to join our stores during our busiest time of the year. This is a great opportunity to gain retail experience, work with a friendly team and contribute to Koorong’s mission of serving customers across Australia.

As a Christmas Casual, you’ll work in a fast-paced retail environment, supporting our team to provide excellent customer service and ensure our stores are well-presented and ready for our customers.
Key Responsibilities
This is a hands-on role involving:
- Providing friendly and helpful customer service
- Operating cash registers and processing transactions
- Re-stocking and replenishing shelves
- Pricing and ticketing stock
- Maintaining store presentation and merchandising
- Assisting with opening and closing the store
- Supporting the wider team with other duties as required

- Springwood, QLD
- Woolloongabba, QLD

Availability
- Casual shifts will be available Monday to Saturday
- Availability to work a minimum of 3 days per week is essential
- Availability throughout the Christmas and New Year period is essential
- Shifts will be available from October 2026 to January 2027
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is aligned with Koorong’s mission and values
- Has previous retail experience (desirable, but not essential)
- Has intermediate computer skills
- Is organised, reliable and self-motivated
- Has a strong attention to detail
- Is willing to learn and take on new skills
- Can perform the inherent requirements of the role, including standing, bending, reaching, squatting and twisting
- Has strong knowledge of Christian resources

Koorong was a family owned company that began over 30 years ago at the Bootes family residence in Koorong Street, Marsfield, near Macquarie University in Sydney. As well as a street name, Koorong is also an Indigenous term for "watering hole" or "oasis", which sums up well what we do. We opened our Sydney store in Ryedale Road, West Ryde, in 1978 and moved to our Sydney Superstore in West Parade, West Ryde, in 1995.
Koorong now operates 15 stores across Australia. Our Blackburn (Melbourne) store opened in 1979, our Brisbane store in 1986, Perth in 1990, our chain of country NSW stores (Armidale and Port Macquarie) opened in 1993, Adelaide in 1998, Toowoomba in 2000, Penrith in 2002, and Hobart and Canberra in 2003. In 2004 we moved two of our existing stores (Hobart and Perth) to bigger and better premises in order to better service our customers in those areas. In 2005, we welcomed on board the Launceston and Mooloolaba stores, in addition to three more regional NSW stores in Gosford, Tamworth and Newcastle, and in 2008 we opened our Springwood store. We also have a thriving Web Store.
From the beginning, Koorong has remained committed to spreading God's Word and building up the body of Christ by providing an extensive range of Christian books, Bibles, music, software, DVDs, gifts and more at the lowest prices. We are excited to be sharing with you in the important ministry of providing quality Christian resources that offer guidance and encouragement to the Church, and introduce others to the good news of Jesus Christ.
