About Us
Koorong is Australia's largest Christian retailer, with over 45 years of serving customers through 14 stores and a thriving online platform. We're currently going through large transformation and we're looking for Call Centre Assistants to be part of this exciting journey.
Working in a fast-paced retail environment, this role aims to support the retail team, by delivering fantastic customer service skills to our loyal customers. If you're looking for casual work and are passionate about working in a purpose-driven organisation, we'd love to hear from you.
Role Specifics:
- Casual shifts as required (Call Centre opening hours: Mon - Sat, 8:00am – 6:00pm)
- Must be available for increased shifts to cover staff away on leave during busy periods (such as university exam periods, holidays, sales, pre-Christmas season etc)
- Ideal candidates are available 3-4 days a week
Successful candidates will provide exceptional customer service via in-bound calls, emails and mail in a professional and timely manner. Providing an enjoyable Koorong experience for our external and internal customers will require being well informed on products and processes. Other responsibilities include product order entry and answering inquiries.
About you:
- 1 - 2 years administration experience is advantageous (not essential); full training will be provided.
- You are a hard worker with initiative and the ability to work independently.
- You will need to be accurate and efficient, have a positive attitude and the ability to focus on completing tasks on time.
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
- An intermediate - advanced level of computer literacy is essential, along with fast and accurate typing skills.
- A passion for Christian retailing and a good knowledge of Christian resources would be an advantage.

Koorong was a family owned company that began over 30 years ago at the Bootes family residence in Koorong Street, Marsfield, near Macquarie University in Sydney. As well as a street name, Koorong is also an Indigenous term for "watering hole" or "oasis", which sums up well what we do. We opened our Sydney store in Ryedale Road, West Ryde, in 1978 and moved to our Sydney Superstore in West Parade, West Ryde, in 1995.
Koorong now operates 15 stores across Australia. Our Blackburn (Melbourne) store opened in 1979, our Brisbane store in 1986, Perth in 1990, our chain of country NSW stores (Armidale and Port Macquarie) opened in 1993, Adelaide in 1998, Toowoomba in 2000, Penrith in 2002, and Hobart and Canberra in 2003. In 2004 we moved two of our existing stores (Hobart and Perth) to bigger and better premises in order to better service our customers in those areas. In 2005, we welcomed on board the Launceston and Mooloolaba stores, in addition to three more regional NSW stores in Gosford, Tamworth and Newcastle, and in 2008 we opened our Springwood store. We also have a thriving Web Store.
From the beginning, Koorong has remained committed to spreading God's Word and building up the body of Christ by providing an extensive range of Christian books, Bibles, music, software, DVDs, gifts and more at the lowest prices. We are excited to be sharing with you in the important ministry of providing quality Christian resources that offer guidance and encouragement to the Church, and introduce others to the good news of Jesus Christ.
