The Anglican Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn encompasses a diverse group of entities spanning community services, schools, parish ministries, property, and investment activities. With the Diocese embarking on a comprehensive refreshed strategic plan, we are seeking a commercially minded CFO to join its shared corporate services entity (Anglican Diocesan Services) to help shape its future.

This is an opportunity to join a large and complex faith-based organisation at a pivotal moment in its evolution.

Position

This is far more than a traditional finance leadership role. As CFO, you will lead the transformation of finance across a group of related entities, driving improvements in systems, processes, reporting and capability. You will play a key role in optimising a significant asset base, strengthening financial stewardship, and ensuring capital is deployed to maximise mission impact.

Success in the role will require strong commercial acumen, transformation experience, and the ability to influence across a complex stakeholder environment. Equally important is the ability to build trusted relationships and work collaboratively with a diverse group of leaders.

This is a unique opportunity to combine commercial leadership with genuine social impact.

Skills and Experience:

  • Commercially minded leader capable of driving meaningful transformation while building trust and credibility across the organisation.
  • A strong track record leading finance transformation and uplift across people, processes, and systems.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across complex stakeholders.
  • Exceptional relationship-building capability and a collaborative, authentic leadership style.
  • A strategic mindset coupled with a willingness to remain hands-on when required.
  • Resilience, pragmatism, and the ability to navigate ambiguity and competing priorities.
  • Grounded in a strong sense of purpose and the Christian faith.
