Habitat for Humanity Victoria is seeking an experienced and values-driven Finance Lead to oversee the financial management and governance of our organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible difference by supporting a Christian charity that helps vulnerable households achieve safe, secure housing.

As a key member of our small and collaborative team, you will work closely with the CEO, Leadership Team, Board and Finance Committee to provide financial leadership, ensure compliance, and support strategic decision-making.

About the Role

This hands-on role combines strategic financial oversight with day-to-day financial management responsibilities. Reporting to the CEO, you will:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management.
  • Support Board and Finance Committee reporting.
  • Coordinate annual audit and financial statement preparation.
  • Ensure compliance with ACNC, ATO, payroll, GST and other statutory requirements.
  • Manage grant budgets, funding acquittals and donor reporting.
  • Oversee payroll, banking, financial controls and finance systems, including Xero.
  • Provide financial advice to support organisational sustainability and growth.

About You

You are a qualified finance professional who enjoys working in a purpose-driven environment and helping leaders make informed decisions.

You will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
  • CPA or CA qualification (or significant progress toward qualification).
  • Experience in financial management, reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian taxation and compliance requirements.
  • Experience using Quickbooks and advanced Excel skills.
  • Highly developed analytical, organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a small team.

Highly Regarded

  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector.
  • Experience managing grants and funding acquittals.
  • Understanding of ACNC compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting Boards or Board Committees.
  • Knowledge of housing and community services sectors.
