Take on the responsibility for the financial management, compliance and reporting required for the Presbytery which manages assets of over $100 million and generates revenue of $3 million from funding, property and managed investment income....
The Presbytery has been recently formed with four presbyteries coming together to make up the Southern Presbytery.
The key responsibilities of this role are:
• Advise and assist the committees and staff of the presbytery in providing a healthy, compliant and sustainable financial base for advancing the mission and ministry of the Presbytery and its communities of faith.
• Congregation Support – provide support to congregations on financial matters supporting the development of financially healthy and sustainable mission and ministry.
• Financial reporting – prepare accurate financial statements, including Balance Sheet, income statements and cash flow statements. Ensure these reports comply with accounting standards and regulations and Uniting Church regulations, policies and procedures.
• Data management – gather, monitor and analyse financial data to provide insights into Presbytery’s financial health. This will include tracking revenues, expenses and overall financial performance.
• Manage Funding – ensuring that funding grants are properly administered and acquitted.
• Budgeting and Forecasting – responsible for the annual budget process from preparation to approval by Presbytery. Assist with Presbytery’s planning for future financial needs and investments
• Asset Management – support for the Property and Finance Committee in providing financial feasibility for proposed property purchases and sales. Manage vehicles and managed investment funds with Uniting Financial Services.
• Regulatory and tax compliance ensure compliance with tax regulations (PAYG, Superannuation, Fringe Benefits (exempt nonreporting/non-exempt) and other regulatory bodies (ATO, ACNC, UCA). Responsible for managing the annual audit process
• Supervise bookkeeping staff and establishing standards for record-keeping and operational efficiency.
