Our Purpose: FIFO Counsellors exist to increase employee wellbeing within the resources sector.
Role Contribution: This role contributes to remote site safety and wellbeing initiatives providing support, counselling, presentations and referrals for all staff, and support, assistance and insights to supervisors and managers.
Role Relationships: This role reports to the FIFO Counsellors Regional Manager and the site contract manager. This role builds effective relationships with all staff at contracted site to fulfill the role responsibilities.
Role Responsibilities:
Proactively develops, and builds, professional relationships with all staff (including contractors) across all levels of the site
Provides support and referrals to all staff on contracted site and organisation related to wellbeing
Provides individual counselling to any staff member (including contractors)
Develops and presents to staff presentations related to the above issues and other identified needs - site wide or for specific teams
Develop rapport with supervisors and managers to provide support, assistance and insights
Assist with the identification, development and facilitation of initiatives related to FIFO Counsellors’ purpose within Site Counsellor’s contracted site

FIFO Counsellors provide onsite mental health crisis care and coordination, individual counselling, referrals to support services, assistance to middle management who may be supervising staff in circumstances of mental health concern, and insight to senior management regarding general employee wellbeing.
This is completed through building onsite rapport across all levels of the site, providing toolbox and prestart presentations, providing individual counselling and support to employees and their family, and liaising with supervisors, middle managers and senior managers.
