Youth Support Worker

About the opportunity

As a competent youth and family counsellor you will advance outcomes for vulnerable youth people, referred by Department Child Safety by conducting assessments, prepare support plans and provide short to long term support and intervention services that are best practice and client led. You will also assist in facilitating our Integrated Pathways at Bundaberg Program that is funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services.

This is a full time permanent position, with consideration given to a part time basis on request

About you

  • You are a qualified and respected practitioner with a heart for helping vulnerable young people in our community.
  • You have sound knowledge of therapeutic interventions and the Child Protection system.
  • Achieve client-directed outcomes and advocate for clients to key stakeholders.
  • Maintain case notes and client statistics in a timely manner, consistent with confidentiality and professional standards.
  • Your self-awareness and your Christian values enable you to build healthy relationships that contribute to a supportive professional and community network.

Selection criteria

  • Relevant Human Services diploma, preferably youth or social work.
  • Demonstrated experience in case management and group work in supporting, youth from a child-safe, trauma-informed, family-focused perspective.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply therapy in a range of counselling modalities with a client-directed, outcome-focus.
  • Demonstrated commitment to a Christian Ethos.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team and actively engage with community partners and stake holders.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal people, families and/or organisations is advantageous.
  • Hold a current Blue Card and an unencumbered ‘C’ Class Driver’s License.
