About the role

Reporting to the Head of Strategy & Policy, the Adviser, Strategy & Policy supports the development and delivery of Wesley Mission’s policy agenda, ensuring our advocacy is evidence-based, credible and aligned with our Christian mission.

The role focuses on developing and maintaining Wesley Mission’s policy positions across priority reform areas, and coordinating high‑quality policy submissions in response to government inquiries, consultations and reviews. Drawing on service data, lived experience and research evidence, the Adviser helps translate complex issues into clear, practical policy positions that support reform and systems change.

The role also provides project and analysis support to the Head of Strategy & Policy on selected organisational strategy and business planning activities, contributing to clear strategy development, internal alignment and effective implementation.

About you

This role would suit someone who brings:

  • Experience or demonstrated capability in policy research, analysis and writing
  • Strong written communication skills, including drafting policy submissions, briefs and recommendations
  • An understanding of public policy development, consultation and government decision‑making processes
  • The ability to synthesise complex information into clear, practical policy insights
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple inputs and deadlines
  • Confidence working collaboratively with advocacy, government relations, campaign and service teams
  • Alignment with Wesley Mission’s Christian mission, values and commitment to social justice
