Seeking an experienced librarian to join our dedicated team. Trinity College Queensland is a vibrant theological college committed to education and formation within in the Uniting Church in Australia Queensland Synod.

  • Part-time (15.2 hours per week)

As the Librarian of one of Queensland’s largest theological libraries, you will be supporting our Lecturers, Students, Presbyteries and Congregations. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the library services and information systems.

About you?

You are a proactive professional dedicated to the provision of academic support in higher education. You enjoy supporting and engaging with multiple stakeholders and bring the ability to engage the college community with library services, resources and facilities. You are comfortable working independently and managing competing priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and maintain library strategies and policies in support of education for ministry at TCQ, with an emphasis on innovation;
  • Manage the library resource budget effectively and prepare reports on library stock, library usage and library development needs;
  • Ensure the library meets the requirements of TCQ’s Higher Education Provider (Australian University of Theology AUT) with annual reporting and attending AUT meetings
  • Respond to reference queries and provide research support and training in the use of information technology for TCQ students and library members;
  • Ensure the effective and efficient use of library management systems to maintain catalogue records and monitor the use of library resources.
  • Lead support services for students enrolled at Trinity College Queensland (TCQ), including provision of academic support in relation to library resources and facilities.
  • Ensure that library resources (whether digital or hard copy) are available in a timely manner for each semester, in consultation with faculty.

What you’ll bring:

  • Qualification relevant to library management or equivalent experience
  • Extensive experience in the provision of academic support to students in higher education
  • Ability to hold and maintain a current Queensland Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or be eligible to obtain one prior to commencement.
  • Commitment to the development of ‘best practice’ strategies in all aspects of theological education
  • Pro-actively seeks to engage the College community with library services, resources and facilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, deliver and continually improve processes and systems to achieve organisational goals;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of library cataloguing and acquisitions services and procedures;
  • A commitment to building strong relationships with key stakeholders/customers across the Church and its agencies, boards and committees of the Synod;
  • An ability to provide high levels of customer service for a Christian theological educational institute including participation in the College community such as interacting with students during class breaks.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, timeliness, analytical and focussed on outcomes;
  • Ability to clearly communicate orally and in writing with others and manage competing views;
  • Familiarity with theological contexts and content would be advantageous (but not essential)
  • Familiarity with and experience in theological collections is desirable but not essential
