About the Role

The Youth and Family Ministries Facilitator is responsible for planning, developing and implementing programs and initiatives that build connection, community and support for families and young people.

The person in this role builds rapport with partners across the community, churches and other organisations, to effectively collaborate and successfully deliver on effective and successful programs and initiatives for families and young people.

The Youth and Family Ministries Facilitator will work under the support and direction of Church Council, the Minister, the Family Youth Ministry Committee, and an external supervisor.

This is an ongoing position, working 19 hours per week (times and days to be negotiable).

This role will work out of Bairnsdale and may work across surrounding localities within close proximity and cultural communities locally and further afield.


About You

We are looking for someone who has:

A relevant qualification in education, ministry or youth work, or demonstrated experience related to working with young people. Such as in one or more of the following:

  • Certificate in Social or Community Work.
  • Experience at camps/outdoor education.
  • Leadership in a community youth organization e.g. Scout/Guides, coaching sports.
  • Experience in schools, such as teaching, chaplaincy or working as an aide.
  • Demonstrates a passion for outreach programs and a desire to develop and lead engaging and creative Christian faith programs.
  • Experience in networking, building sound relationships with and being a leader for children, youth and families within and outside the Church Community.
  • An understanding of child developmental and behavioural challenges, and positive management strategies, would be beneficial.
  • Experience in the use of music, drama or art would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A driver’s licence and access to a vehicle
  • A Working with Children Card
  • The right to work in Australia
  • To undergo a National Police Check before commencement
