SU Australia has multiple chaplaincy positions currently available across QLD, VIC, TAS, NT, NSW and WA.

School Chaplains provide social and emotional support to positively impact the holistic wellbeing of school communities across Australia. They help students find a better way to deal with issues ranging from family breakdown and loneliness, to drug abuse, depression and anxiety.

This is not a desk job. It’s a people-first role where no two days are the same, and where the impact you make can last a lifetime.

Demonstrating compassion and unconditional love, Chaplains will be sensitive to, respectful of, and available to all regardless of beliefs or religious affiliations. All SU Chaplaincy staff and volunteers are empowered and equipped to champion a child safe culture and are committed to the highest standards of safety and care in our work with children, young people and families.


About the Role

We are seeking compassionate, motivated individuals to join our growing chaplaincy team across Australia. School Chaplains provide social and emotional support to students, staff, and school communities.

You’ll work alongside school leadership to:

  • Create safe spaces for conversation, connection, and belonging
  • Deliver wellbeing programs, workshops, and group activities
  • Build strong relationships within the school community
  • Be a calm and positive presence during times of stress or uncertainty
  • Be aware of specific needs within the school community and provide tailored support

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Relevant qualifications in youth work, counselling, social work, pastoral care, or a related field (or willingness to obtain)
  • Eligibility to work in Australia
  • Working With Children Check (or ability to obtain)
