Pastoral Assistant

Job Description

Opportunity for someone who has a desire to help our Church family grow in their love for the Lord and one another, so that they are equipped to serve the Lord, reaching out and connecting with people in the community for Christ......

  • Part-Time - 3 days per week

Tregear Presbyterian Community Church is looking for a godly, gifted and enthusiastic disciple-maker to join our Leadership team as a Pastoral Assistant and support the ministry of the Church in our local area. The church has operated in the Mt Druitt area for over 50 years and, with our Preschool, has sought to be a light to, and serve, our community.

We are a small, vibrant congregation with a passion to reach our local community with the Gospel. At present, the Church does not have an ordained minister. Our Leadership Team consists of both women and men, with both men and women in our Church family serving through reading God’s word, praying, leading the service and sharing God’s word with the congregation. The Church has a 2½ days per week Children’s and Families worker who is developing close ties with the Preschool and its families, teaching SRE in several local schools, while ministering to children and families in our Church.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a desire to help our Church family grow in their love for the Lord and one another, so that they are equipped to serve the Lord, reaching out and connecting with people in the community for Christ. The Pastoral Assistant will be a member of the leadership team and help build a healthy church that is growing and developing for future generations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

There is flexibility to shape the role to suit the gifts and passions of the right applicant. However, we envisage that the right person would:

  • Build disciples through small group and one-on-one relationships
  • Have an active role on the church preaching roster
  • Work with the leadership team to develop and implement a vision for our church community
  • Be part of our church family, participating in our regular Sunday morning meetings and other activities

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

The successful applicant will:

  • Be able to demonstrate a solid faith in Jesus Christ, be a committed member of a church, and support the doctrines of the Presbyterian Church.
  • Have a current NSW Working with Children Check clearance, a willingness to comply with the Breaking the Silence Policy and Code of Conduct of the Presbyterian Church of NSW and the ability to comply with any other relevant policies.
  • Have appropriate theological training and/or experience (a certificate of theology at a minimum, or a willingness to work towards this).

The role is offered on a part-time basis for 3 days per week, including Sunday, with other days to be negotiated. Remuneration will be based on the Presbyterian Church’s set packages.

The initial contract will be for a period of 2 years. Ideally, the role will extend beyond that timeframe.
