churches of Christ in NSW & ACT was founded almost 140 years ago, by a few locally-governed churches committed to the Lordship of Christ and a simple gospel-centred Christianity grounded in New Testament practices.

Today we are a network of 60 churches, diverse in form, ethnicity and culture, but held together by our historic DNA and a recently reaffirmed ethos. We are currently looking for a passionate and gifted leader to take up a new role advocating for our emerging generations in formation and leadership development.

You will develop trusted and authentic relationships with local church leaders in order to collaborate and innovate in the area of Christian formation and leadership development for children, youth and young adults.

You will bring strategic insight, an understanding of change and stakeholder engagement skills to create pathways for new and existing leaders, in alignment with our ethos and disciple-making vision.

You will work collaboratively within a high-trust team environment.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Oversight of volunteers and teams who lead our state camps, providing strategic leadership and integration of leadership pathways
  • Identify projects and opportunities for Christian formation & leadership development among emerging leaders, including underrepresented and pioneering leaders.
  • In collaboration with local churches, innovate leadership pathways and resources that strengthen their intergenerational discipleship and local church leadership development, including the development of network-owned experiences.
  • Actively engage and facilitate educative opportunities for church leaders (elders, pastors and lay leaders) through network-led discussion/workshops related to the challenges and opportunities of intergenerational ministry.

Representative & Partner Work (interdependence):

  • Represent churches of Christ in NSW & ACT in national working groups (as appropriate) that foster the leadership development of children, youth and young adults.
  • Foster partnerships with wider entities in churches of Christ (ACOM, GMP, FHC) that will support experiences, training, formation and development pathways support the valuing and development of younger leaders in local churches.

You must:

  • Have a love for Jesus and His Kingdom, and an ability to understand the times we are in and how new expressions of His church fit in a dramatically changing culture.
  • Passion and experience for ministry to children, youth and young adults.
  • Have qualifications in Theology and/or Education
  • Demonstrated experience in ministry, team leadership and strategy.
  • Ability to network, build bridges, listen effectively and communicate with leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate quality learning and change environments.
  • Demonstrated time management skills and ability to prioritise work.
  • Highly developed communication skills (both verbal and oral) with a demonstrated ability to engage and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of the churches of Christ in NSW and ACT ethos and mission, with willingness to work within a Christian context and philosophies, vision and values.
  • Hold a current NSW Driver’s License.
  • Hold a current National Police Check and Working with Children Check and current Creating Safe Spaces Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
