Pastor

We are seeking a spiritually mature, relational, and community-minded Pastor/Minister to join our warm and active church family. They will work collaboratively with the Church Leadership Team (CLT) to guide the ongoing direction of the church and to nurture the spiritual life of our congregation.

The Role

We are seeking a spiritually mature, relational, and community-minded Pastor/Minister to join our warm and active church family. They will work collaboratively with the Church Leadership Team (CLT) to guide the ongoing direction of the church and to nurture the spiritual life of our congregation.

Essential Criteria:

Pastoral Care

• Being able to effectively connect and communicate with people of all ages is essential.
• Working with the pastoral care team including helping people move from attending to belonging

Leadership

• Partnering with the CLT in discerning church direction
• Creating a safe place for older teens and young adults to come together and meet others and grow in their faith.

Teaching & Preaching

• Encouraging and training church leaders
• Preaching at least one Sunday each month.
• May include involvement with FISH Groups (Fellowship in Someone’s Home)

Community Awareness and Involvement

• Aiding and Equipping the church in community connection and outreach.
• Op Shop, Friends @ 54 and Coffee Club – attendance at times.
• Minister’s Refresher course as required for accreditation.
• Local Minister’s fellowship if time permits

Churches of Christ involvement

• Minister’s Refresher course as required for accreditation.

Local Community involvement -

• Local Minister’s fellowship if time permits

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a deep commitment to Christ and to their personal own spiritual growth
• Is an Immersed Believer
• Has a heart for pastoral care and mission
• Is a Team Player willing to work WITH the Church Leadership Team and who relates well with people across all ages
• Communicates clearly and confidently
• Is self-motivated
• Has demonstrated experience in pastoral leadership and congregational ministry
• Holds a Bachelor of Ministry (or equivalent) or is studying to complete a Ministry degree
• Is accredited or eligible for accreditation with Churches of Christ SA & NT
• Has completed or is willing to complete Churches of Christ Formation Training
• Has a willingness to adopt the doctrines, values and practices of Churches of Christ
• Has eligibility to work in Australia, has a Working with Children Check, and has an Australian Driver’s Licence.

Terms

Part time (0.6 FTE)

Initial 2-year term, with a review after 6 months, and a further review after another 12 months before consideration for a permanent position.

Mount Barker is located in the beautiful Adelaide Hills and is one the fastest growing regional areas in South Australia and is approximately 42 kms from Adelaide.

About Mt Barker Church of Christ

We are a welcoming congregation of around 35 members, with approximately 30-40 gathering for worship each Sunday.

We are a vibrant, caring community that enjoys genuine hospitality, spiritual growth, strong community connection, and creating meaningful pathways for discipleship.
