Who We Are

Cairns Baptist Church is a warm, diverse and gospel-centred church located in the heart of Far North Queensland. Our fellowship includes people from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds, with both English and Chinese-speaking congregations gathering together under one united vision — to glorify Jesus, make disciples, and bring the hope of the gospel to our surrounding communities.

CBC has a long-standing commitment to biblical teaching, authentic community, cross-cultural unity, and practical outreach. The church has recently moved from our original inner city location to a purpose-built facility in the suburbs and we are eager to be lead further into effective local missions. Seeing an average of 220 attendees each Sunday between our English and Chinese services, the church is seeing new momentum in the neighbourhood and surrounding city.

The Role

This is a key time in the life of Cairns Baptist Church, as we seek a pastor to lead with clarity, courage, and deep dependence on the Holy Spirit. We’re not looking for someone to do the work of ministry alone, but someone who is experienced in building up others, casting vision, and equipping the body for effective life and mission.

The Senior Pastor will lead a pastoral team of an Associate Pastor who heads up the kids and families programs at the church and a Chinese pastor who leads the Chinese congregation.

The successful applicant will be someone who:

• Leads with vision and wisdom – A Spirit-led visionary who can help the church discern and pursue God’s direction with clarity and momentum.
• Builds teams and multiplies leaders – A gifted team-builder who can raise up others to lead, serve and thrive in their calling. Someone who creates the systems and structures needed to support lasting ministry growth
• Equips the church for missions – Someone who is passionate about developing discipleship pathways and training others to live and share the gospel.
• Teaches with depth and conviction – A faithful preacher and teacher who loves God’s Word and brings it to life with clarity and relevance.
• Loves people and community – Someone who embraces the multicultural nature of our church and is committed to reaching out to our diverse local neighbourhood.

Additional Information

The commencement of this role is expected to begin in January 2026.

The role is full-time. Applicants must have the right to work in Australia and be eligible for pastoral accreditation or registration with Queensland Baptists. A current Working With Children Check and Police Check are required.
