Prison Chaplain – Roebourne (Part-Time: 2 days per week)
The Anglican Diocese of North West Australia has a big vision - to bring the gospel to the nations. We are seeking a Prison Chaplain who will help to provide spiritual care to inmates at Roebourne Regional Prison, Western Australia.
You will provide chaplaincy services with bible study and church services as well as pastoral visits and walk-up visits.
The wide-ranging functions of this position will require you to be passionate about helping people, flexible, well organized, innovative and committed to faithful service.
You will be located in Roebourne, a small town in the Pilbara Region. Your work will need to interact with new prisoners to establish supportive relationships as early into their time as possible. Also you are to help transferring prisoners to continue on their faith journey in their next facility. And those released locally, to arrange for practical support with outside churches or chaplaincy check-ins and community visitation by chaplains. There are opportunities to provide advocacy for prisoners both within and without the prison. This position is permanent, part-time, two days a week.
ESSENTIAL
1. You must be eligible to hold a Licence from the Diocesan Bishop.
2. Degree level theological training from a recognized evangelical Bible college.
3. Demonstrated skills in evangelism, pastoral care and Bible teaching.
4. Demonstrated communication and inter-personal skills.
5. Demonstrated skills in problem solving and conflict resolution.
6. Experience in chaplaincy.
DESIRABLE
7. Training in Clinical Pastoral Education.
8. Certificate IV in Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care.
9. An understanding of the aims and objectives of the Diocese.
