The primary purpose of the role:

We are growing as a church family and are keen to offer excellence and creativity to our children and offer support to children and our families during the week to deepen their spiritual walk.

This role is an excellent opportunity to combine creativity, teaching and engagement for someone who feels called to engage and develop children in their understanding of Jesus and the gospel. We are a culturally diverse and mixed-age community church.

We aim to build on the community work with this age group and their families to see them more regularly engaging in church on Sundays.

Someone who will provide a positive space for church and non-church children and their families to come together, build relationships, and experience God’s love as they are equipped to follow Jesus.

Main Responsibilities

1. Vision

● Continue developing and implementing the vision for Sunday kids and families from the local community.

● Continue to build the team of volunteers and helpers (parents of the children) as well as church members

2. Sunday Services

● Deliver engaging & dynamic Sunday School sessions and oversee the quality of those delivered by others

● Plan and prepare resources, sessions and materials for Sunday School

● Set up the session for Sunday School and help with setting down

● Source and introduce worship that has a children’s focus

3. Midweek and other

● Work with the families of the children we engage, offering prayer, practical support and opportunities for them to grow in the Lord by developing a discipleship programme.

● Develop a 0-5s and parents group during the week - Playgroup – possibly like a coffee morning playgroup, to engage these younger children and their families regularly.

● Develop a kids club ministry

-During the School term: 2 sessions, e.g. week 4 and 8 on Friday, 3:00-4:30 pm. Afternoon tea, activity, game.

-During the holiday: 1-day kids outing

4. Administration

● Arrange for Sunday School and plan a curriculum that is in line with the themes of the church

● Help develop relevant and engaging sessions and emphasise key Christian Events (EASTER, CHRISTMAS…)

● Up-to-date understanding of IT, software and social media (Insta & Facebook)

5. The Staff Team

● Attendance at and participation in staff meetings, where requested.

6. Work Authorisation: Working With the Children Check is mandatory.

Job Types: Part-time, Casual

Salary: From $40.00 per hour +

Schedule: Flexible hours & Overtime

Supplemental pay types: Overtime payment

Education: Certificate I - IV (Preferred)

Experience: Experience with children: 1 year (Preferred)

Licence/Certification: Driver Licence (Preferred)

Work Authorisation: Australia (Preferred)
