Job Description

A church in Brisbane is currently looking to employ a Pastor on a permanent full-time basis. The pastor would be working with the current Senior Pastor of the church.

 

Position Description:

 

This position will report to the Senior Pastor who is responsible for the spiritual oversight of the church. The successful applicant’s responsibility will be delegated to him by the Senior Pastor. 

 

The Pastor will be responsible for leading worship services, providing spiritual guidance, and supporting the social and pastoral needs of the community and lead pastor. This role involves delivering sermons, conducting religious ceremonies, offering counselling, and fostering community engagement, while upholding both religious and civil responsibilities.

 

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

 

·      Support the Senior Pastor in all of the pastoral functions and activities of the church. The Pastor will support the Senior Pastor in maintaining a strong pastoral care culture in the church.

·      Lead and assist public worship services and deliver sermons, talks, and prayers.

·      Plan service music and coordinate special religious events.

·      Conduct religious instruction classes, prayer groups, retreats, and seminars.

·      Provide pastoral care through home, hospital, and institutional visits.

·      Offer premarital, family, and personal counselling, and refer to professional services when needed.

·      Officiate marriages, funerals, and memorial services according to religious and legal requirements.

·      Encourage community involvement and coordinate participation in social and welfare activities.

·      Maintain required church and civil records.

·      Oversight and development of discipleship groups and small groups in the life of the church.

·      The development of a young adults and young family’s ministry.

 

 

 

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

 

Spiritual

 

Have a strong personal prayer and devotional life.

 

Understands and affirms the Statement of Faith prescribed by the Australian Christian Churches.

 

Personal

 

Be a clear communicator with highly developed written and verbal communication skills.

 

Is able to work flexible hours as not all responsibilities will be performed during business hours Monday to Friday.

 

Is able to lead and manage teams and volunteers.

 

Be able to manage time well to ensure that all responsibilities are completed within the required time frames.

 

Maintains personal priorities with home and family.

 

Professional

 

Has a minimum of a Bachelor of Theology or Ministry from a recognised institution.

 

Has a minimum of 5 years pastoral experience within a church and can demonstrate a proven track record of pastoral ministry and oversight of ministries.

 

Has a current Queensland Working with Children Check (Blue Card).

 

Currently holds or is able to obtain ordination accreditation with the Australian Christian Churches.
