Crossway Kids is seeking to hire a part time Preteens Pastor who is passionate about children’s spiritual development as well as the Mission and Values of Crossway Baptist Church.....

Crossway Kids exists to empower children and their families to experience Jesus and grow as disciples who multiply. Through age-appropriate experiences at home and church, we strategically partner with parents to see young people and families grow in their relationship with God and with each other, mobilizing them to live out the great commission in their community.

This newly created 2-day per week role will work under the direction of the Lead Preteens Pastor to provide strategic leadership and direction to our weekend Grades 5-6 Ministry.

Key tasks

  • Work under the guidance of the Lead Preteens pastor to provide effective leadership of Crossway's Preteen Ministries to ensure that children, young people and their families are growing as disciples.
  • Assist with the development of teaching content across Crossway Kids & KILN that is engaging, age appropriate and theologically sound.
  • Lead and develop initiatives designed for preteens and their families to discover and grow a personal faith in Jesus, including Discover Baptism, Grade 6 Graduation and Big Step Weekend.
  • Work with other Crossway Kids staff to develop and maintain a healthy culture with our Crossway Kids and mid-week ministry teams, aligned with the Crossway’s vision and values.
  • Recruit and develop teams of volunteers, empowering them to lead weekend ministries and initiatives.
  • Work alongside staff team to effectively care for and follow-up team and families in our Preteen Ministries.
  • Build relationship with families during weekend services and other initiatives, providing the platform for effective pastorally care.

Key skills and experience

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Excellence in work and in service, maintaining a clear understanding and approach to seeing best-practice in ministry
  • Strong commitment to continued personal growth through prayer, worship, bible study and fellowship.
  • Possess a basic understanding of child development and how this intersects with spiritual growth
  • Understands how to appropriately identity and cater for the needs of families whether spiritually, emotionally or physically.
  • Possess a sound understanding of the Bible and theological principles and how to translate them in a child appropriate manner
