Position Overview

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in overseeing the organisation’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance with statutory requirements, and efficiency in accounting processes for Partners In Ministry and Walking Beside Ltd. This role involves hands-on management of accounting tasks, including planning, budgeting, and reporting financial transactions, and payroll, while also contributing to process improvements and providing detailed reporting and analysis.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
  • CPA (Certified Practicing Accountant) or CA (Chartered Accountant) certification (or working towards certification).
  • 5–7 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a not-for-profit, corporate, or private business environment.
  • Strong understanding of Australian tax and statutory compliance, including BAS preparation and payroll obligations.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, and managing accounts payable/receivable.
  • Familiarity with payroll systems and employment law compliance in Australia.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, or similar) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience mentoring junior staff or supervising small teams.
  • Exposure to risk management and insurance administration.
